Hurricane Hugo was bearing down on the islands, but its arrival was preceeded by some monster waves.  What a perfect opportunity for dinghy surfing.   Peter, Nancy and Sandy launch the dinghy to check things out.

Indigo was secured as best she could be, so when the hurricane finally hit there was nothing to do but wait it out and hope for the best.  Just the tip of the mast could be seen over the tree tops.

When it was over, boats were scattered all over the place.  Indigo was one of the few boats to suffer no damage at all, in spite of an 85 foot wing mast.   On the video tape, Peter describes how he secured her for the big blow.
