Most of the squirrel rehabbers said you should start the release procedure after about 3 months, so we started letting him out on the back porch. He was very excited about all the new places and things to explore.  He would very cautiously check out something new and then come scampering back to us at full speed when he got spooked (which was about every 30 seconds at first).

We had no idea what to expect.  Would he run off and never comeback?  Would he get lost?

As it turned out, he spent the first day just exploring all the stuff around the back porch,
with frequent high speed sprints back to his security blankets....CapmWoody & Teresa.

The second day he ventured farther out into the back yard and climbed the light pole,
not stopping until he got all the way to the top.

"Wow, this place is really BIG."

Tomorrow.....The Giant Oak....
